If you are in the market for a new or used car, you are likely dreading the whole process. With words like TMV and APR yelled in your face at the dealership, no one can blame you. The most important thing you can do is get all your facts, prices and details about the vehicle you are considering.

There is certainly a great deal of information you need to understand before you run off to your local dealership. But once you know what the acronyms mean and how financing works, you’ll be ready to get the best possible price on the car you’ve chosen.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when they’re considering a new car is not knowing their credit score. That is a big surprise since most people know their blood pressure or even know their cholesterol levels. So why are people so scared of their credit score? This is your report card after you get out of college but even more importantly it dictates what kind of interest rate you might get.

If the dealer knows more about your credit score than you do you might as well walk in there with a stack of cash and handed over. They should never know more about your financial information than you. It is also possible that there may be errors that you can correct prior two trying to buy a car. This can save you thousands of dollars.

Even if your credit score is below 680 there’s still hope. One of the most important things you need to consider is to not that we’re credit we port every time you want to apply to new dealership. This can actually for your credit because your credit keeps getting a pulled. The smart thing to do this in a one application to an auto loan resource that specializes in a more credit type won’t. That’ll be the best chance you have for qualifying for new loan.

They take your application and can find you car financing from underwriters who specialize in high risk car loans. Usually if your credit score is 525 or above and no bankruptcies on record, you have a good change of qualifying.

Try to maintain no negative marks for at least 6 months. You can expect to pay more APR than someone with good credit, but this can help re-establish credit for you. After a few months of paying on time, you may be able refinance the car loan.

Forward

One of the most frequently asked questions of bareboat charters companies in the Whitsundays is “Do I have to be concerned about jelly fish stings”. The simple answer is Yes. There are 2 species of jellyfish that you should be aware of, (Chironex fleckeri) the Box Jellyfish and (Carukia barnesi) commonly known as the Irukandgi. Both have deaths attributed to them even though it is extremely rare.

Season

January has the most frequently recorded stings. Stings have been attributed to the Box Jelly during all months of the year but far and away the most frequent recorded stings occur between October and April. I would be interested to see how the recorded stings related to the increased numbers of tourist since this is also the peak season for them

Things to Watch For

Symptoms have been likened to both a heart attack and labour pains. Sharp rise in blood pressure, pains to the lower back, vomiting and a feeling of impending dread. The thing I find fascinating about this is that the initial sting is not usually felt and that symptoms do not occur for about 30-50 minutes. Typically the symptoms ease of and return in 30 minute intervals usually each one worse to the one before.

Treatment

Applying vinegar to the area which has been stung will remove any other tentacles an prevent further invenonmation. Bareboat Charterer should also immediately contact the charter company to arrange the next step which is usually an airlift to Mackay where the victim is kept under observation

Reducing Risk

Best precautions are to wear what is commonly referred to as a “Stinger Suite” any reputable Bareboat Charter company will either provide them or refer you to where you can hire them. They are not a fashion statement especially for the more portly of us but they have a two fold purpose in that they are excellent for stopping sunburn which by the way is way more common a reason for spoiling a bareboat holiday than jellyfish stings

Summing Up

To my way of thinking, being a victim of an Irukandji sting while on a Bareboat charter cruising around the Whitsundays is less likely to happen than being hit on the head by a coconut but wearing a stinger suit is a small price to pay to put your mind at ease. My wife and kids all put them on when we are out snorkeling as so do I and my advise to you would be to do the same and we can all look a little weird together. See you in, under or on it.
