How much do you give cruise employees for their services? How do you properly tip on a cruise line? Cruise gratuities can be a daunting topic for cruisers because there are many different cruise lines that have different policies with regards to giving tips. Different cruise have their own schemes and there are no strict rules to be implemented. What you want to do is ask your travel agent on about the gratuities inside a cruise line. Then after that you can plan on what your best move.
Basically, cruise ship tipping are broken down into three categories:
Automatic Tipping – To save you from the trouble of thinking the gratuities to give out at every trip, many cruise lines are adding tips directly at the cruiser’s on-board accounts. Carnival and Norweigan are among the major cruise lines are adding ten to thirteen dollars per day, per guest charge for dining and room services.
Most of the cruise lines will give out discounted tips for children. The total of the tips can be controlled when the account is close, based on the client’s judgement. In some cases, travel agents can add gratuities directly into the cruise price.
Tip Recommendations – Some cruise lines will provide tipping on cruises suggestions. Cruise lines will give you the option of either paying your tips in cash at the end or include them to your on-board account, which is then closed before you disembark.
No Tipping Policy – In some luxury cruise lines, you won’t have to pay for any gratuities. The tips are already included in the overall pricing scheme of the upscale cruises. But it can be quite good to give out some tips to employees who are really deserving because of the good service they provide.
Take time to plan out your tipping options because cruise lines can really drain a lot of your money if you’re not aware of how things work. Going on a cruise is like walking inside a floating Las Vegas casino. Everything inside the ship is designed to make you spend lots of money.
