One of the most luxurious holiday destinations in the world, Cabo San Lucas is now a major vacation destination for people worldwide. Some years ago, the place is said to be a haven for pirates.
Cabo San Lucas was at first a fishing ground discovered by a small groups of fishers in the 1900s. It then started to become a small fishing village. Later on, groups of fishers come to Cabo San Lucas until a company named Compania de Productos Marinos was established in the place. This led to more inhabitants in Cabo.
There were then few inhabitants in the place when it started to be known as a sport fishing area in the 1930s. It is also accessible only by long-range yachts and small planes, or if you are willing to traverse a thousand-mile dirt road, it can be reached by land.
The elite groups in Southern California have known the place after the war, and it has become their vacation destination. In 1950, Bing Crosby and his companions built up the first and exclusive hotel in Cabo San Lucas. This has led to more developments and eventually growth of Cabo San Lucas.
The place became known for the fishing tournaments held there, and this started to make the place popular. Many developers, and the government as well, started to pour in their resources to Cabo San Lucas, and road projects were started.
The developments were followed soon after by the construction of an international airport in San Jose del Cabo – Cabo San Lucas’ neighboring city. This made way to more and more visitors coming to the place.
With the opening of this accessible transportation, luxurious hotels, first-class restaurants and bars emerged in the area and it boomed into a place for relaxation and leisure. Sammy Hagar, a Van Halen band member, also put up his bar and restaurant called Cabo Wabo Cantina, which also became a favorite hangout of tourists even up to the present.
Today, Cabo San Lucas in not just a place where people come to fish, it has become popular for those who want to spend time on the beach, play golf, enjoy surfing, trek the desert there are a lot of activities that emerged in Cabo San Lucas. It has also become a favorite romantic place for lovers, a hideaway for celebrities and a great vacation destination for everyone.
