Formentera is the smallest Balearic Island it’s 13 miles long, 35 miles squared, and is home to around seven thousand souls. It’s by far one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Set against a sky blue back drop it’s dusty little roads meander to some of the most amazing beaches you will ever see.

Formentera is only a stone throw away from Ibiza, but the white beaches and the turquoise sea give you this relaxed magic Caribbean feeling. It’s like being in another world. A world where you can get away from the madness that can sometimes consume Ibiza.

Formentera island is a relatively flat island with windy dusty lanes, lined with fincas, and many breeds of trees including Sabina, fig, palm, and pine trees. One of it’s finest features are it’s beaches that stretch for miles – some have sea on both sides!

It does not have an airport and is only accessible by sea and that’s how the “wet set” get there in super yachts and expensive boats. Many go to eat on the fashionable restaurants on the beach who’s prices are geared up to serve the super rich.

If you ever go to Ibiza then you must make the effort and take a trip to this beautiful island. It may be the smallest and most southerly island of the Balearic Islands group. but it is by far the finest. I’d stay clear of the Island in August as it get too busy. The ideal time is between May and Oct.

I would recommend you see the island by boat (I’m not biased) there are many options for you to choose from and they’re cheaper than you think. Just ask your local friendly search engine.
