If you have never been to the Sunshine Coast of Australia then you are in for a real treat. With 286 days of sunshine per year, it is an incredible place for your next vacation. In a wonderful paradise like this, there is plenty of opportunity for fun in the sun on the beautiful beaches of the region, many that are opened year round. These incredible beaches do come with some rules that you need to know and follow.

1. If there is no life guard on duty you are not permitted to swim or surf at those beach locations.

2. While swimming or surfing, you are not permitted to swim outside of the red and yellow flags. These flags are there to make out the safe swim zone and should not be passed or ignored.

3. If you are intoxicated you are not permitted to enter into the waters. It is also recommended that you wait one hour after eating and drinking before re entering into the waters.

4. Do not swim when the beaches are closed.

5. Flags are used to make off safe swimming areas and swimming cautions. If you are on a beach and there are no flags present then you are not permitted to enter into the waters.

6. If you are in the water and pulled below by an undertow raise one arm and float. Try not to panic as this can make the matter much worse.

7. It is important to know what each flag color represents: Green…safe to swim, Yellow…dangerous conditions, swim with caution, Red…water is unsafe and should not be entered.

8. If you experience a cramp, keep the affected part still and don’t struggle. Raise your hand straight up and wait for help.

9. If a yellow flag is flying then you should not go out to far as this means the surf may be dangerous.

10. If you don’t understand the flags or are unsure it if it is safe to swim, ask a lifeguard, they will be happy to direct you.

These tips and rules are all basic and simple. Following them all and you are sure to have a fun and enjoyable vacation, without incident.
