Handles are also an important part to consider. Obviously you want to feel comfortable when you’re holding onto your luggage. When you’re looking in this area, make sure the handles are built with an easy grip. If you end up standing in one area for a long time, you definitely want to feel comfortable doing it. It might be one of the most important parts to a good luggage set.
You will find that one of the biggest benefits with today’s luggage over older luggage is the increased commonness of wheels. Ball bearing wheels are the most common, because they aren’t as visible and are more maneuverable. These are usually made of metal. Castor wheels are another type, often made of a combination of metal and plastic, although they are rare these days. Fixed castor wheels don’t corner as well as ball bearing wheels, while other castor wheels turn independently and have smoother cornering. Rubber wheels are also found sometimes. The different types of wheels each have their pros and cons, so try and test them out before buying.
You will find that the available material for luggage varies a great deal. Vinyl is thin, while leather and canvas are sturdy and tough. Nylon can be lightweight, as well as heavier. The material you choose impacts the look and design, but your choice of material should depend on how often you will be using the luggage set. If you travel a lot then you want heavyweight nylon, canvas, or leather. These will be able to withstand the punishment that constantly goes on in airports. For occasional travel or travel by car, a lighter weight material will suffice.
