Brisbane Overview

Brisbane is one of the largest cities in the world, third to only Los Angeles and New York City. It offers the best in dining, arts, entertainment and sporting events. Brisbane was once thought of as a large country town until it hosted the 1986 Commonwealth Games and the 1988 World Expo.
Right in the Center of Brisbane is the Brisbane River. This river runs through the Center Business District of Brisbane as well as the Brisbane suburbs. If you are looking for one of the most amazing city views then you should hop onto the CityCat Ferry as it will take you all around the river, where you can observe Brisbane from many angles. Brisbane is also famous for its beaches, river and rain forest. One of the best ways to spend your day is at Brisbane’s Moreton Bay, and it’s accompanying islands. Moreton Bay is perfect for water sports, soaking in the sun or relaxing under a shading umbrella and reading a book or taking in the view.
Brisbane’s arts scene has at its hub the Cultural Centre at South Bank. It boasts the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA),Australia’s largest modern art gallery, the State Library of Queensland, the Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). In the city the Brisbane City Gallery has a contemporary exhibitions in a variety of medium and Customs House Gallery has changing exhibitions featuring mostly Queensland artists. For the collector, the works of local artists can also be found in the string of art galleries at the New Farm end of Brunswick Street.
Another cultural precinct is the Powerhouse Centre for the Live Arts at New Farm, featuring innovative performances in two theaters. Punters can try their luck at the Conrad International Treasury Casino. Open 24 hours a day, it is located in a restored historic building in the city.
If shopping is what you desire, Brisbane does not fall short. The Queen Street Mall has a full line of international stores for you to shop until you drop.
