Florida Beach Vacations — Sand and Surf

A Florida beach vacation is one of the most soothing ways to recharge your run down batteries.
Florida is home to some of the most excellent tropical beaches the world over, and the standards of excellence set by the Floridian shores are the envy of the travel world.
The beaches get all the attention, but don’t forget about the tempting tropical foods that abound. Local produce is served all over and there are foods to suit all budgets.
Surfing, diving, swimming and shopping til you drop are options, but if it is the tropical beaches that you long to discover, then here are three Florida beach vacation destinations that you shouldn’t overlook.
Daytona Beach requires no introduction and is said to be ‘the world’s most famous beach’. The distance across of the beach itself and the tightly packed sand is a sight to behold. But Daytona offers much more, for example the Museum of Arts and Sciences is a wonderful way to spend a morning, followed by Volusia Mall or the Ocean Walk Shops for a little retail therapy.
Ft Lauderdale Beach: If you only go to this vacation destination to see the award winning wavewall and the promenade, you will not have wasted your time. The wavewall goes for an amazing two miles along the main part of the beach and has become one of the signature sites of the area. The promenade has been pedestrianised and allows for a relaxing stroll overlooking the beach.
My own preference is definitely Clearwater Beach. This may have something to do with the yummy stone crab claws served at Frenchy’s restaurant. But food aside, the water is some of the most wonderful I have ever enjoyed. Nope, there’s no such thing as a quick dip here — the sand and sea won’t let you go. Whatever you do, don’t forget to wander over to the pier at sunset, for a celebration.
The Sunshine State has lots to experience, but a Florida beach vacation is at the top of the list.
